"The Virgin"

Mythology : In most ancient cultures Virgo is represented as a goddess of the earth, a symbol of power in the ancient world. In Greek mythology she is associated with the goddess Demeter. One day Hades cought sight of Demeter's daughter, Persephone, and took her into the underworld to be his wife. Demeter was so grief-stricken at the loss of her daughter she neglected her crops and people began to starve. As a compromise, Zeus let Persephone spend half of the year with Demeter and half with Hades. Of course, when Persephone is in Hades the world suffers the cold of winter. ;)

Main Attractions : The Virgo supercluster of galaxies contains an enormous amount of galaxies. It seems like you cannot even point your telescope at Virgo without bumping into a handful of them.
