"Berenice's Hair"
Legend : Coma Berenices represents the hair of an Egyptian Queen who lived from 246 to 221 BC. When her husband went off to fight the Assyrians, Berenice vowed to sacrifice her hair to the goddess Venus in exchange for his safe return. When he returned, she kept her promise and placed her hair under the watch of temple guardians. One night her husband found the hair missing, but to soothe his anger the court astronomer showed him this faint constellation saying that the gods had placed Berenice's hair among the stars.
