Centaurus (Cen)
"The Centaur"

Location : RA = 13h Dec = -50

Main Attractions Whether they know it or not everyone has already been informally introduced to Centaurus, through the famous star Alpha Centauri. The fact that Alpha Centauri is the third brightest star in the heavens is far "out shone" by the fact that it is the closest star to the Sun, a "close" 4.34 light-years away. Omega Centauri is the finest globular cluster in the heavens and is easily naked-eye visible at fourth magnitude.
