Andromeda (And)
"The Princess"

Location : RA = 1h Dec = +40

Mythology : Andromeda was an Ethiopian princess and daughter of King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia. When Cassiopeia boasted that Andromeda's beauty was greater than that of the sea nymphs, Poseidon (god of the sea) sent Cetus the whale to destroy the Ethiopian coast. The only way to save their country was for Andromeda's parents to chain her to a rock by the sea, as a sacrifice. At this same time Perseus flew by on his winged horse, Pegasus. He agreed to slay the monster in exchange for Andromeda's hand in marraige. After killing Cetus, Perseus and Andromeda lived a long and happy life together. The gods were said to be so happy with the story that they gave everyone a place in the sky.
